Hi, I'm Jono. I'm a 31-year-old man living with Cerebral Palsy.
Despite having a complex disability, living in the city has been a dream of mine ever since I was a kid. Up until a few years ago, I believed that independent city living would only be a fantasy. However, when SDA apartments started getting built in the Melbourne CBD, I seized the opportunity to apply.
In all honesty, the SDA process wasn't always a smooth journey. The wait for the SDA outcome made me feel like I was in no man's land and no one should have to feel like that. It meant I couldn't plan anything in my life for 260 days.
I am now reaping the benefits of my hard work and I am the happiest I have ever been. I went from believing that I was going to live with my family for the rest of my life to living my dream. Every human being deserves the right to live how and wherever they want.
